Electronic fuses are a type of low resistance resistor that acts as the failsafe for the excessive electrical currents. This allows the electronic fuse to protect circuits from load overcurrent. Load overcurrent can be caused by many reasons including short circuits, miss-matched circuits, overloading, or device failure.
Fuses support the prevent dangerous situations, such as fires, from occurring. With their main objective to protect circuit systems, they do not interrupt the normal functions and are rather an extra preventative low resistance component.
